Combining the Comparisons

Summary Table

Conducting comparative analyses via the TET has revealed a variety of similarities and differences amongst the methods for stabilization.

These are not easily noticed when methods are examined singly. In this review, the comparisons are gathered together to provide an overall view.

In a Nutshell

Certain contrasts emerge from the full picture shown in the above matrix.

L'7 & L'6: Transpersonal Existence v Social Existence

These emerge as opposites in almost every way.

  • Transpersonal existence is the most private method of stabilization. It requires personal assertion, functions under personal auspices, and its effectiveness is a private matter.
  • Social existence is the most public method of stabilization. It requires external confirmation, functions under social auspices, and its effectiveness is a public matter.

L'5 & L'4: Individual Existence v Relational Existence

These emerge as opposites in almost every way.

  • Relational existence is a personally demanding method of stabilization because it is under personal auspices but requires external confirmation, yet leads to a private outcome.
  • Individual existence is a socially contributing method of stabilization because it is under social auspices but requires self-assertion that leads to a public outcome.

L'3: Emotional Existence: Sensitive v Empathic

Emotional existence is a method of stabilization that depends on self-assertion and has a private outcome. However, the extremes differ markedly in regard to personal and social effectiveness.

  • The sensitive extreme functions under social auspices and provides for security at a cost of social effectiveness.
  • The empathic extreme functions under personal auspices and is both more vulnerable and more effective personally and socially.

L'2 & L'1:  Vital Existence v Sensory Existence

These represent the most comfortable and relatively undemanding methods that depend on external confirmation, but otherwise differ in the shaping and outcome.

  • Vital existence is a socially disconnected method of stabilization that functions under personal auspices and produces a public result.
  • Sensory existence is a socially connected method of stabilization that functions under social auspices and produces a private result.
