Patterns within the Spiral
Diamonds of Adaptation & Control
There appears to be an oscillating pattern generally found in Spirals that defines, or at least relates to, the oscillating duality of the Spiral-derived Tree. It was originally developed in managing work complexity (Q-expansion Spiral) and in making political choices; and then subsequently applied to the sense of self (PH'4C), and strengthening coping (RH'C).
Using the
to clarify how clarification works, this Spiral should conform to the same pattern, so providing further clarification and confirmation of the analysis. Simple observation reveals that it does. The diagram of interlocking diamonds is shown below. «Accept-and-adapt» applies to the odd levels, and «determine-and-develop »applies to the even levels and the end-point of the Spiral.
An oscillation was identified during the build-up of the spiral and this can be imposed on the diamonds. The accept-and-adapt modes are subjective and limited, the determine-and-develop modes are objective and comprehensive. But there is a final position here: the μ1-explanation commences as subjective and limited, but ends up being perceived as objective and comprehensive.
Transition Pairs
The Spiral reveals 4 patterns of movement relevant to the axes.
The initial transition in each Cycle, lesser concern for complexity. This is associated with recognizing and respecting boundaries: in Cycle-1 in regard to the analysis, and in Cycle-2 in regard to the person.
and , is back along the X-axis towardsThe next transition in each Cycle, more concern for control. This is associated with permitting greater assertion: in Cycle-1 in regard to the behaviour of social elements, and in Cycle-2 in regard to the standards applicable to the explanation.
and , is up the U-axis towardsThe third transition in each Cycle, more concern for complexity. This allows for greater coverage: in Cycle-1 in regard to the details of the situation, and in Cycle-2 in regard to the varieties of context that may apply.
and , is forward along the X-axis towardsThe final transition in each Cycle is down the Y-axis back to less concern for control. Because control has already been established, the transition is spontaneous and the issue is deemed resolved: in Cycle-1 the resolution relates to the explanation, and in Cycle-2 in regard to a willingness to accept it.
