Detrimental Use of Will-Energy
Deliberately Harming Oneself
It is perverse to use any taxonomic entity-level-function in a way that blocks its proper use. Because we exist within social groups, harm to oneself spills over into harm to others and vice versa.
RL7: Willingness → Destructiveness
because...
Destructiveness is willingness used to defeat your own endeavours, and cause harm to yourself and others.
RL6: Purpose → Nihilism
because...
Nihilism is a value system that negates the reality of human values and purposes.
RL5: Communication → Blather
because...
Blather (syn. twaddle, drivel, jabber, waffle, yammer, witter) refers to communicating and using language in a way that fails to communicate and blocks communication.
RL4: Experience → Addiction
because...
Addiction is a self-consuming experience that blocks essential self-protective and self-developing experiences e.g. via alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling, internet games, work, shopping.
RL3: Change → Disruption
because...
Disruption is a type of change that spoils the status quo while preventing sensible and desirable change.
RL2: Inquiry → Scepticism
because...
Scepticism is that undermines the inquirer &/or inquiry methods &/or the object of inquiry so that it interferes with the practical, sensible development of knowledge.
RL1: Action → Violence
because...
Violence is uncontrolled action whose presence destroys the possibility of constructive and effective action.
Deliberately Harming Others
It is perverse to generate harm that eventually comes back to harm the originator. Even where direct harm to others is not obvious, these harmful practices interfere with friendships, networks and communities.
RL7:Willingness → Negativity
Why?
Negativity is an assault on the willingness of others. It may be due to experiences like envy or jealousy. If unprovoked, it can be an expression of aggression stemming from depression.
RL6:Purpose → Irresponsibility
Why?
Irresponsibility is about not taking seriously values and purposes that you have agreed to or can be expected to hold.
RL5:Communication → Cynicism
Why?
Cynicism is communication aiming to chill the soul and dishearten the effort. It expresses a general distrust of anything good others may say including any positive meaning ascribable to what they do.
RL4:Experience → Sociopathy
Why?
Sociopaths (syn. psychopaths) have no notion of what others feel and lack feelings themselves, especially experiences like guilt, remorse, and shame that guide social behaviour. They can therefore ruthlessly cheat, harm, destroy or kill without losing their sleep.
RL3: Change → Power-lust
Why?
Power-lust commonly reflects an egocentric determination that the environment should to fit the person, not the other way around.
RL2:Inquiry → Closed-mindedness
Why?
Closed-mindedness is a state of refusing to inquire or to even consider the results of inquiry that might be relevant to an issue of concern to yourself or others.
RL1:Action → Coercion
Why?
Coercion is deliberate action taken to force others to act against their will (i.e. willingness) .
- Having examined Root energy in its positive and negative aspects, it is time to consider how to use that energy to do something that is important for you: your personal endeavour.
