Functioning of a Philosophy School: PH'5Q5sH

The functioning of a philosophy school is a complicated matter with a variety of requirements and components, many of which have been touched on in passing in earlier sections.

We can start from the likely reality that all functioning must rest on the discharge of responsibilities and the performance of work as initially described in the introductory section.

Basic Responsibilities become Monads (G1)

The work required within a school used labels to reflect psychosocial reality in that the noun is social and the adjective is psychological. This structure is a way for us to re-visit the 7 levels be reminded of the responsibilities.

L1: Realized Fundamentals

Fundamentals are the socially-shared principles specified in the doctrine

Realization is the psychological requirement for these to be experienced as truths without which there can be no doctrine or school.

L2: Personalized Mentoring

Mentoring is a socially-shared activity for explaining the doctrine.

Personalization is the psychological requirement for teaching to be effective, and without which new adherents have immense difficulty in grasping the ideas.

L3: Standardized Dissemination

Dissemination is a social process in which the doctrine is made available to many.

Standardization is about a psychological judgement that must be agreed about how the doctrine is to be presented in a way that is acceptable to all.

L4: Formalized MembershipL

Membershipis a social statement of belonging to an organisation that upholds the doctrine.

Formalizationis about ensuring a psychological submission to some system of rules that operate in society to define organizations..

L5: Recognized Guardianship

Guardianship is a social role in which the holder is expected to make rulings that ensure the correctness and continuity of the doctrine.

Recognition is about the psychological requirement for someone to effectively exercise the associated power within the school.

L6: Authorized Revision

Revision is a social process in which the doctrine is deliberately modified to deal with problematic issues or unnecessary limitations.

Authorization is about the psychological approval of the validity and acceptability of the revision.

L7: Generalized Application

Application is a social process in which the doctrine illuminates social situations with potential benefit for wider society.

Generalization is about a psychological simplification and use of essences to facilitate wider application of the doctrine.

By combining these responsibilities in a systematic way, a fuller picture of the functioning of a philosophy school can be revealed. In the taxonomy, this is developed via a structural hierarchy.

The Structural Hierarchy

The taxonomic form that provides for the necessary integration of levels is a Structural Hierarchy. Each Level in such a hierarchy is a Grouping and contains all Levels of the originating hierarchy. This section will investigate the Groupings and offer formulations which have been well tested in practice.

Technical Details:

Structural Hierarchies are developed by progressively grouping adjacent Levels of THEE’s 7-Level holistic hierarchies in all possible ways. «Holistic» means that Levels in the hierarchy broadly imply or include each other, and this applies here.

The first «Level» in a Structural Hierarchy is a Grouping of 1 Level i.e. Grouping-1 (G1) contains 7 Groups that are Monads i.e. made up of 1 original Level. The next «Level» will contain all Groups of 2 adjacent Levels i.e. G2 contains 6 Dyads…and so on until we reach G7, the Heptad Grouping where there is just one Group consisting of all 7 original Levels. As a result, every G-Level contains all the Levels of the originating hierarchy i.e. the original differentiation of an entity into Levels has been replaced by a re-unification applicable at each G-Level.There are 28 Groups (components) in a Structural Hierarchy.

However, definition of this THEE form is far more complex. Internal Levels i.e. the Levels within any Group, have distinctive qualifiers, and are labelled with a lower case 'g', e.g. g4 refers to the 4^th Level in each of the Tetrads, Pentads, Hexads and the Heptad; and so g4 does not exist in the Monads, Dyads or Triads which have less than 4 internal Levels.

The Groupings and their Groups are ways to integrate work and overcome the differentiation and discontinuity demanded by the hierarchical stratification of responsibilities. They have unique functions and properties and explain phenomena easily noticed in social life.
