Analysis of the Tree

The Story so Far

Trees have been discovered and developed without appreciating the significance. Here, the steps in such a construction are specified, and the current conjectures and findings are added to increase understanding.

The analysis described in the previous topic produced the following pattern:

Stage
Mode Basis Cycles in Spiral Psychosocial Pressure
Spiral
Tree L
Internal Duality
φ7 Type-5 Cycle-2
Actualization pressures
Acceptability CL7 = KL7 RL(n+1)
φ6 Type-7 Well-being CL6 = KL6
φ5 Type-2 Certainty CL5 = KL5
φ4 Type-1 Cycle-1 Transcendence pressures Autonomy CL4 = KL4 RL(n)
φ3 Type-4 Understanding CL3 = KL3
φ2 Type-6 Selflessness CL2 = KL2
φ1 Type-3 Primal Nexus Performance CL1 = KL1

The essence of the Mode that specifies a Stage becomes a Level in the Tree i.e. CL1 from μ1, CL2 from φ2 and so on. This essence is the content of the Centre (or Centres where there are two in a Level).

Transcendence pressures exist to energize and establish the Primal Means despite obstacles and difficulties.

As a result, the function of the lower portion of the Spiral-Tree (corresponding to Cycle-1) is described as energizing and establishing.

Actualization pressures deal with constraints and requirements that ensure the Primal Means produces a maximally desirable-feasible result in the world as it is.

As a result, the function of the lower portion of the Spiral-Tree (corresponding to Cycle-2) is described as constraining and enabling.

Psychosocial Pressures

The psychosocial pressures associated with the Spiral architecture need to be viewed separately to the psychosocial pressures associated the Tree architecture. The current conjecture is as follows:

  • Tree KL pressures determine the psychological frame of mind that should affect Centre content i.e. it forms an input to deliberation and choice.
  • Mode CL pressures deal with quality and nature of the output produced for the particular Centre.
  • As actualization pressures are in the upper section, dominance reverses the conventional arrangement:
    ■ social/external/environmental/objective dominates at KL3.
    ■ personal & psychological factors dominate at KL5 & KL6.

Because the Tree is a Root hierarchy, albeit re-ordered, its levels remain KL1 - KL7. So the psychosocial pressures intrinsic to those Levels remain as shown on the left-below. A standard terminology has been developed to capture this as shown in the Tree diagram on the right.

It follows that two psychosocial pressures are in play for each Centre in the Tree. This is exactly the same situation as found in the initial emergent hierarchies, although all Centres in those Trees possessed an identical psychosocial pressure.

Internal Duality

The 4-level Style (Q) Hierarchy for the Root Hierarchy has been established as follows:

L Style Hierarchy   Elaboration
δ

γ

β

α
■ Directing

■ Harmonizing

■ Organising

■ Pursuing.
  Directing Evolving Reality

Reconciling Divergent Realities

Organising Reality

Interacting with Reality

However, the picture here is somewhat more complicated because the internal duality reflects an additional psychosocial pressure based on its origins in Root Levels. Whereas the KL• and CL• pressures are identical for every Spiral-Tree (as shown above), the specific additional Root-based psychosocial pressures will vary according to the particular Spiral.

The general picture is shown below with details place in the left-most column (green font). Specific Trees will be presented in the Topics to follow.

This Matrix-Table brings all the above together:
