Patterns of Qs : A Tree?

Background

The 7 level Principal Typology contains incompatible entities and so cannot generate a Tree. However, the Spiral of Growth was discovered by moving from the content-method perspective of Types to a context-values perspective of Modes. Modes are compatible and their essences do form a Tree which operative at all stages of development in the Spiral. This Spiral-Tree turned out to map the factors determining how well the Domain’s Primal Need is met.

Each Q-Arena overlaps two Types and therefore each has an overlap with the Arena below and the Arena above. These overlaps are evident if you mouseover the thumbnail diagram of the Association Arenas at right.

This overlap is not just theoretical but shows itself overtly in psychosocial reality as least within these Association Arenas:

Those working at high levels in Q3-Organisations, often work at low levels in Q3-Academia. Those working in high levels in Q3-Academia often contribute to Q4-Societal institutions, while top managers from Q2-Organisations usually do not.

So there is no strong incompatibility at play amongst Arenas. Also, simple inspection and observation suggests that the various Q-Arenas within a Domain would interact and exert mutual influence in some fashion to a greater or lesser extent.

The Domain Q-Tree would view each of the Q1 to Q7 Association Arenas as Levels of a Tree with no re-ordering.

The primary psychosocial pressure of each Q-Arena would then align directly with the psychosocial pressure inherent in Levels within the Tree structure.

Dynamic Duality

If it were possible to find a dynamic social-personal duality in Arenas Q3, Q5 & Q6 then a Tree could be constructed. Simple inspection suggests that such a dynamic duality does exist:

Q4-Disciplines show the science v humanities duality with sciences being social-systematic and humanities being personal-idiosyncratic.

Q5-Schools show a duality amongst doctrines between those that are socio-economic and those that are about personal growth.

Q6-Spiritual Traditions show a duality into organized religions with their dogmas and rituals, and pure spiritualities with their inner meditational requirements.

Furthermore, there is no such obvious duality available for Q1-Family Housholds, Q2-Formal Organizations, Q4-Societal Institutions & Q7-Artistic Events.

Using these assumptions suggests the Tree pattern shown at right. This appears to provide a picture with societal significance: but what to name it?

Simple Observations

The Tree confirms the widespread intuition and conventional wisdom that the foundation of a society rests in the Q1/L1-Family. At the heart of society is its Q4/L4-Societal institutions: they are what makes citizens proud of their society and what either creates or attracts migrants and refugees.

The spirit of society is revealed by its Q7/L7-art and the handling of the Q6/L6-Spiritual dimension in personal and social life. Poorly understood Q5/L5-Doctrines govern the operation of L4/Q4-Institutions and L3/Q3-Disciplines, and through them impact on L2/Q2-Organisations.

The polarization at L5 of Q5-Doctrines is speculative but possibly fits with their interaction with the two forms of Q3-Discipline and the required mediation by L4B-Institutions. The polarization at L6-Spiritual Traditions into that permitted by the organised religion (L6S) and those adopted by spiritually-inclined individuals (L6P) is well-recognized.

As a result, we can identify an internal duality:

The Q-work performed in Associating Arenas organised as a Tree PH'5QK, can be provisionally named: Determinants of Societal Identity
