Meaning of "in Development"
Distinctive Qualities
Frameworks in the «prior to theory» section contain satellites with observations that were the basis of theoretical developments posted in the Architecture Room.
While these frameworks would be described slightly differently now, they are believed to be valid as posted. In a few places, I have adjusted names to fit the new understanding, and from time to time a page is amended or an additional page is posted to remedy omissions or confusion.
The frameworks in this section have certain distinctive features.
Error Correction. Some frameworks correct errors in previously published work. I say "published" rather than posted, because during academic work there was a pressure to publish and a pressure to accept conventional disciplinary wisdom. This led to errors. In creating the website, I have not experienced similar pressures—which is not to say there may not be errors.
Taxonomic Reasoning. Most of these frameworks are no longer built up from first principles or so heavily dependent on existing literatures. I now apply numerous taxonomic principles that have been worked out in the Architecture Room to speed up discovery and validate formulations. I believe this is unlikely to act as a self-fulfilling prophecy because of the stringent demands of these principles and the need to fit observations.
Completion as Priority. Completing the taxonomy, insofar as I am able, has become my over-riding concern. I believe certain gaps absolutely demand to be filled: the Spiral complex for the Will (Root) Domain for example. I have also been concerned to remedy ignorance of most Q-arenas. Of the 49 Arenas, only one had been fully developed () and one partially developed (: in both cases preceding a proper grasp of Q-structures.
Sparse Accounts. Consulting has ceased and my concerns are more scholarly, so frameworks are less oriented to application and use, and postings provide less assistance for the user. For example, topics have much less repetition, fewer implications, and less attention to possible misunderstandings. Also, topics often use findings from the Architecture Room and assume the reader will be familiar with these. I must also admit that I am unable to master whole literatures in the way I did when younger.
Inevitably many of the postings in this section have not had the intense scrutiny and testing that they need and deserve. I must leave that task to future investigators.
The Frameworks
Experience & the Self (2014-2015)
The was initially published in Ch. 7 of Working with Values. However, subsequent investigation revealed some misunderstandings and errors so this framework was updated and re-named.
When the book was written, Typology Essential Tables had not been developed. So this posting was also an opportunity to plot the 7 Methods, and determine a range of additional properties. The Spiral trajectory of is new.

Inquiry & Knowing (2015)
The and were originally published in the 1980's.
This posting was an opportunity to correct a number of serious errors in the formulations, and to develop a Typology Essentials Table with a range of additional properties.

Using Language (2016, 2023)
In the original posting in 2011, a range of additional investigations were listed.
The was developed very briefly and posted in 2013. An appropriate name was only developed later in 2015 and posted in the Architecture Room as .
Because it was the foundation of and other bodies, the main concern was clarification of the , originally posted in 2013 and further elaborated in 2016 and 2023.
Change (2024-2025)
The has proved challenging over several decades. A determined systematic effort to clarify and formulate the essential frameworks commenced in 2023 and resulted in the postings in 2024 and 2025.

Prospering in Society (2025)
The framework was one of the earliest postings (2009), and it cried out for development as part of the investigation of Q-arenas.
Investigations over the years have been pulled together in 2024, and new frameworks were identified and posted in 2025 covering the entire Q-complex: .

These are two of the 7 generated by the : , and .
In both cases, fundamental developments in understanding the taxonomy eased investigation and permitted the full suite of frameworks: Q-typology, Q-spiral, Q-(spiral-)tree, Q-structural hierarchy, Q-structural hierarchy tree.

Absence of knowledge of the spiral complex in the Root Domain was a glaring gap. This is now in the process of being filled.
