Patterns in Seeking Compatibility

New Unlabeled Patterns

There appears to be a pattern in the strengths that are called upon and in the focus with which they are deployed:

This first pattern is:

G1: Self-knowledge which has a Self focus

G2: Self-confidence which has a Social focus

G3: Attunement which has a Relationship focus

G4: Dispassion which has a Temporal focus.

G5: Self-knowledge which has a Self focus

G6: Self-confidence which has a Social focus

G7: Attunement which has a Relationship focus

There appears to be another pattern in regard to whether the clarification process is private and can be kept wholly intrapsychic or whether it is a public event evident at least to whoever you are dealing with and potentially observable by third parties.

This second pattern is:

G1: Private

G2: Public

G3: Public

G4: Private

G5: Private

G6: Public

G7: Public

These two patterns are briefly checked and confirmed below.

NOTE: These are newly identified patterns, not previously noticed in structural hierarchies. Their generalization to some or all structural hierarchies in THEE is currently being examined in the Architecture Room.

The Groupings

CG1: Mobilize Views

The mobilizing effort focuses on your self because that is where you develop and discover your views.

This process is private. These are your personal views and developing them involves using your intuition about the present and reflecting on those as well as past experiences. No one is privy to your perceptions, memories, thoughts and feelings.

CG2: Proffer Assertions

The proffering effort focuses on social settings because that is where you will make connections and possibly find compatibility.

This process is public. Proffering is a social activity, and assertion is about communicating to another party to make a connection. So this process is explicit, involves a counter-party and is often observed by third parties.

CG3: Reveal Intentions

The revealing effort focuses on a possible relationship because that is what seeking engagement is about.

This process is public. Revealing intentions is about being open about at least some of your values and goals. The groups here generate and require dialogue, which others are also likely to notice.

CG4: Assess Fit

This effort is about being balanced and taking a dispassionate overview. The concern is temporal: what is the fit now? and how is it likely to develop?

This process is private. Your judgement as to whether there is sufficient compatibility now and into the future is a purely internal matter. No one can be or needs to be privy to that.

CG5: Check Identification

The checking effort focuses on your self because that is the vehicle that is being identified to confirm it belongs, or to see that the relationship is "not you".

This process is private. Only you can determine and can be aware of whether you identify with the relationship that has emerged. Your sense of belonging is also a private state that others may guess at, but cannot know.

CG6: Sustain Participation

The sustaining effort focuses on the social setting which forms the environment of the relationship-unit in which you are participating.

This process is public. Whether or not you toe the official line and conduct yourself as expected is readily observable. Persistent participation as part of a unit is intrinsically visible, witnessed by the other party and by third parties.

CG7: Resolve Conflict

The resolving effort focuses on the relationship because that is the site of the conflict and the source of any resolution.

This process is public. Conflict cannot be hidden because it marks a rupture in the relationship that could potentially be fatal. Negotiating activities to reach a suitable agreement are inherently visible, at least to the other party.
